4 Ideas for Winter Break Family Fun

The kids are off for winter break, and you aren’t sure how you’re going to keep them busy. There are a number of Christmas vacation activities you could partake in, but you don’t even know where to start. Everyone is busy with their own packed schedules, and it’s difficult to fit in time to plan anything.

If you’re struggling with coming up with ideas for special activities this winter break, try doing the following with your family:

1. Dress Up and Go to the Ballet
Maybe your kids love dance, or maybe you or your spouse does. Either way, a night at the ballet is a great thing to experience all together—especially if everyone wears a tutu!

Haute Hippie Embellished-Waist Tutu Skirt, Black, from Neiman MarcusThe kids can get all decked out in their dance wear, and you can go out in this Embellished-Waist Tutu Skirt by Haute Hippie, paired with a dressy blouse and a tasteful blazer.

Later, you can discuss the performance and try out your favorite moves. Check out LivingSocial and see if there are any deals on tickets in your area.

2. Get Critical
The great thing about winter break is you and the kids can stay out a little later than usual during the week. During this time, you can go see one of the many family-friendly movies that come out around the holiday season.

Pick your movie tickets up on Fandango and grab some candy at the concession stand before the show for an enjoyable time for all. When you get home, your family can put on its own movie review show, with the people who didn’t like the film on one side of the table, and those who did on the other, discussing their points.

3. Go Back in Time
Not all Christmas vacation activities have to entail leaving the house. If you’re up for a staycation, why not have a day where you pretend you’re living in the ’60s?

You can banish the laptops and smartphones, cut TV viewing down to three channels, and even bust out Twister. Challenge the kids to few rounds and see if they can keep up. To sweeten the deal, offer the winner time off from doing chores for the week.

4. Bake Together
You want your kids’ winter break to be memorable as well as productive. Over their break, you can teach them how to bake with some delicious Nieman Marcus Chocolate Chip Cookie Mix.

It’s an easy way to learn the art of baking, and may spark their interest in cooking for the family throughout the school year. It’ll also be a great bonding experience for you and the kids.

Fill your home with the unmistakable scent of freshly baked cookies. Use a box of Neiman Marcus Chocolate Chip Cookie Mix to save some time and maximize your enjoyment!
