Prepare for Baseball Season With a Spring Training Trip

By Jay Croft

It’s never too early in the year to prepare for baseball season, and spring training is a great time to go see your favorite team.

Preseason games let you get closer to your favorite players in smaller parks. The pace is more casual. You’ll see youngsters and veterans alike trying to earn spots on the team—and many will be gone before the regular season starts. Plus, the games are in sunny spots!

Fly JetBlue

You probably know which team you’d like to go see, or maybe there are several. JetBlue flies to various locations in Arizona and Florida (where most training camps are held), so you should be covered wherever you decide to travel. Check the site for flight schedules and special packages for hotels, rental cars, and maybe even deals for the spring training games.

Show Your Colors

Part of the fun of being a sports fan is rooting for your favorite team. If they have a hot new prospect this year, or if everyone’s expecting yet another “growing year,” it doesn’t matter to you. Just look at how the tenacity of the Chicago Cubs and their fans paid off with the World Series win last year—finally!

T-shirts, caps, memorabilia, and even swimwear from all the Major League Baseball teams are available at Pick your team, find the goods, and look for deals on shipping. Flying your club’s colors is a great way to prepare for baseball season.

Stay Safe in the Sun

Your ball cap shouldn’t be the only thing keeping you safe from the sun. Don’t forget to apply lip balm and sunscreen, and to drink plenty of water while you’re at the ball field. And if you’re out in the sun, you’re going to need sunglasses, no doubt about it.

But you don’t have to go all-out. If you’re like some people, you lose sunglasses easily. And if you’re traveling with friends or family, it’s good to bring a few pairs for everyone. The Rectangle Slate Blue Sunglasses by Calvin Klein are perfect for sharing. They’re unisex, polarized, and affordable—so losing a pair won’t be the end of your trip. Order two or more to get free shipping.

Prepare for Baseball Season at Home

If a trip isn’t in your future, you could also watch select spring training games on live streaming with A subscription grants you access to 2016 archives, high picture quality, and full portability on more than 400 supported devices.

Everyone will want to watch the game at your place, so you’ll need to feed them—and keep them happy even if their team is losing. Thankfully, Subway’s catering options can help make it easy on you (and delicious for them). Finally, serve those frosty beers in an MLB Beer Pint Glass with your favorite team’s logo. With good friends, great food, and cold beers, you’ll be ready for the start of the season.
